The Better Design Award is not just a competition—it is a profound tribute to the spirit of design innovation, symbolizing boundless respect for and encouragement of creativity.
Founded in 2024 and held annually, the award has become a global bridge connecting designers, enterprises, and society at large. This year, the competition underwent a major upgrade, with its scale expanding rapidly. Since the global call for entries launched on May 23, the Organizing Committee has received 15,691 outstanding submissions from 69 countries and regions worldwide. With this, the 2025 call for entries has come to a successful close, bringing together creative power from across the globe.
As of August 15, 2025, the official competition website recorded over 900,000 visits, underscoring the strong international engagement. Among the submissions, 6,365 were product works and 9,222 were concept works, with a product-to-concept ratio of 1:1.45. Participating countries and regions include China, the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, South Korea, Australia, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, and many more.
This year’s competition attracted enthusiastic participation from renowned universities, enterprises, and institutions both in China and abroad, representing a wide spectrum of participants.

Numerous top universities and colleges at home and abroad have shown great enthusiasm, with outstanding participation from institutions such as Politecnico di Torino, Royal College of Art, University of Liverpool, King’s College London, Politecnico di Milano, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ArtCenter College of Design, Georgia Institute of Technology, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. These institutions have played a key role in promoting the integration of design education and industrial practice.
The successful conclusion of the call for entries marks a new starting point for exploring the future value of design. The Better Design Award (BDA) is dedicated to discovering outstanding global designs and ideas, consistently leveraging the power of design to respond to the needs of the times—providing an ever-expanding stage for designers to shine.
The Preliminary Evaluation of the 2025 competition will officially begin on August 19 and continue until August 24. Expert judges will conduct a comprehensive review of all submissions, upholding the principles of fairness, impartiality, objectivity, and professionalism.
