2025 Better Design Award Design-Empowered Innovation Talent Matchmaking & Industrial Design Workshop Successfully Held in Shanwei

In order to implement the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government’s initiatives on advancing the “Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns, and Ten Thousand Villages High-Quality Development Project”, uphold the strategy of strengthening the manufacturing sector, and accelerate the development of a modern industrial system, as well as to actively respond to the Action Plan for Industrial Design Empowering Guangdong and the special initiative for industrial design empowerment in eastern, western, and northern Guangdong, the 2025 Better Design Award (BDA) – Design-Empowered Innovation Talent Matchmaking & Industrial Design Workshop was successfully held in Shanwei on December 17.

The event brought together more than 100 representatives, including outstanding project teams from the competition, industry experts, enterprises from across the industrial value chain, industry associations, and social organizations. Chen Shuo, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office (Reform Office and Finance Office) of the Shanwei Municipal Party Committee, and Wu Guangqun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Shanwei Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, attended the event.

The event was themed “Industrial Design Empowering High-Quality Development in Eastern, Western, and Northern Guangdong.” It introduced industrial service resources such as design institutions and academic experts, and featured activities including industrial research, results exchange, design sharing, and industry discussions. A Design Excellence Exhibition was held concurrently, aiming to promote the transformation and application of competition design outcomes, empower Guangdong’s high-quality development through design, and accelerate the implementation of the High-Quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns, and Tens of Thousands of Villages.

In his remarks, Wu Guangqun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Shanwei Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the Better Design Award serves as an important platform for integrating global innovation resources with Guangdong’s manufacturing development. He noted that Shanwei has a solid foundation and strong potential in fields such as electronic information and intelligent manufacturing, and expressed the hope that this event would facilitate deeper alignment between high-quality design resources from the competition and Shanwei’s manufacturing sector.



Design-Focused Presentations
During the event, design experts including Tang Meimei, Partner at Shenzhen 9- o'clock Industrial Design Co., Ltd; Peng Dongyu, Business Partner at Suosi (Shenzhen) Design Office; Luo Qiujie, Head of Brand Global Expansion at Innozen Industrial Design; and Liu Jieying, Brand Director at Shenzhen Sanmu Jiyan Product Planning Co., Ltd., shared practical experiences on design-driven industrial upgrading. Their presentations covered topics such as enhancing design value, human–computer interaction innovation, international branding strategies, and the integration of products and brands.

Industry Exchange and Discussion
Li Qise, Dean of the School of Creative Design at South China Normal University, and Gu Fang, Dean of the Shanwei Institute of Innovative Industrial Design, together with representatives from industrial design institutions and manufacturing enterprises such as Luhua Electronics, Truly Instrument Ltd., and Shanwei Interstellar Animation Group, engaged in in-depth discussions on how design can empower industrial development in Shanwei. The discussions explored innovative approaches to increasing product added value, strengthening brand competitiveness, and promoting the advancement of local industries toward higher-end development.



2025 BDA Design Excellence Exhibition
The event featured a 2025 BDA Design Excellence Exhibition, presenting a selection of outstanding competition entries from leading enterprises and design institutions. The showcased works spanned key fields including electronic information, smart home solutions, smart cities, and green ecology, fully demonstrating the vital role of industrial design in driving industrial innovation and development. The exhibition attracted widespread attention from attendees and visitors.


Industrial Research
Prior to the event, participating representatives conducted on-site visits to key manufacturing enterprises in Shanwei, including Luhua Electronics and Truly Instrument Ltd., to gain firsthand insights into product research and development, production processes, and design needs. These field studies laid a solid practical foundation for subsequent matchmaking and collaborative efforts.
